Background

NACOBTA was started in 1995 by communities who wanted to develop tourism enterprises in the previously neglected rural (communal) areas of Namibia.

Goal

To improve the living standards of the people of Namibia.

Objectives

• Ensure the success of Community Based Tourism Enterprises and sound collaboration with the mainstream tourism industry
• Source and disseminate relevant information to CBTEs
• Facilitate needs based, purpose driven services
• Enhance the capacity of service providers
• Advocate at policy level in terms of the community based tourism sector

NACOBTA provides a number of important support services:

  tourism, business skills, tour guiding
• Business advice
  business plans, product development, financial management & administrative systems
• Marketing
  brochures, website, trade fairs, advertising
• Funding
  assist with access to start up funding for infrastructure & product development
• Advocacy
  lobbying government & private sector
