Itinerary:

Day 1: Windhoek to Waterberg Plateau Park (approx 350 kms/4,5 hours)

  • We’ll be driving to a wilderness area with minimum human impact: the Waterberg Plateau Park.
  • Along the way we’ll visit Namibia’s biggest wood carving market in Okahandja and a great place to shop for souvenirs.
  • We will arrive at the Park just in time for a short walk up Plateau Mountain for a magnificent view of the sunset.
  • Waterberg Park offers game drives, if you are interested your guide can book one for you. Please note this game drive is not included in the booking price.

Day 2:  Waterberg Plateau Park to Etosha National Park area (approx 360 kms/4,5 hours)

  • We’ll start the day with a visit to the historical site of Waterberg, where we’ll see ancient Bushmen rock engravings, as well as some amazing 180 to 200 million years old dinosaur prints, a real favourite!
  • It’s been a long and hard journey for Namibia to give back the freedom of the sky to captive bred and rehabilitated cape vultures, we’ll show you were to find them and tell you their amazing story.
  • Our journey to Etosha will lead us through rich abundant farmland and small quant local towns that have a pace and buzz different to what you expect.
  • We’ll arrive in the park just in time for a late afternoon game drive.

Day 3: Etosha National Park (approx 110 kms/8 hours)

  • A full days exciting game drive through Etosha National Park which will include a stop off for lunch at Halali Camp, a rest area in the middle of the Park, where you can swim and cool off before continuing on our journey.
  • After an adventurous day exploring the park, we’ll arrive at our accommodation site in time to relax and stretch our legs before a tasty dinner (please note, dinner is at own account).
  • The waterhole at the edge of the premises is a fantastic place to watch lions, rhinos, giraffes, elephants and many more, having an evening drink.

Day 4: Etosha National Park to Damaraland (approx 290 kms/4 hours)

  • Heading into the west of the country, we’ll arrive at our accommodation in the early afternoon. Giving us enough time to take a quick two hour walk through the area. The walk will give us the chance to spot some unique wildlife like the desert adapted elephant.

Day 5: Damaraland (approx 300 kms/4 hours)

  • We continue on our journey into the heart of Damaraland
  • We will be visiting the incredible Petrified Forest, thought to be around 270 million years old.
  • We will also visit the Twijfelfontijn and see ancient rock paintings, painted by the San people some 4000 years ago.

Day 6: Damaraland to Swakopmund (approx 330 kms/5 hours)

  • We will start the day with a visit to just one of the rock shelters that houses in excess 45,000 individual bushman paintings.
  • The White Lady painting, which is thought to be about 20 thousand years old is now thought to represent a young male priest or Witch Doctor who is wearing body paint, which is thought to have been commonly used in ancient times.  Some still however believe it’s a female figure.
  • Driving towards the West Coast, we will pass through a number of  small mining towns where semi-precious and gem stones can still be found.
  • On the way we’ll stop to visit the largest seal colony in Southern Africa at Cape Cross. We will also visit a vast lichens field - biological soil crusts that come in all shapes and colours.
  • Finally we’ll arrive in Swakopmund, the largest coastal town of Namibia, in the late afternoon.  Here you can sky dive, hang-glide, quad bike or sand board in the dunes, go on a fishing expedition or take a dolphin cruise. If you’re interested in taking part in any of the activities let our guide know and he’ll arrange the bookings on your behalf. Please note that these extra activities are not included tour price.
  • Dinner tonight will be at your own expense.

Day 7: Swakopmund

  • A full day in Swakopmund. As there are so many things to see and go, and so many activities to partake in, the day is yours to do with as you please, shopping, adventure sports, adrenalin filled activities or just relaxing with a book and cup of fresh ground African coffee.
  • Lunch and dinner will be at your own expense.

Day 8: Swakopmund to Sessriem area, Namib Naukluft Park (approx 390 kms/4,5 hours)

  • We leave Swakopmund and the famous skeleton coast for the oldest desert in the world, the Namib Desert.
  • On the way we’ll stop to see the thousands of graceful flamingos at Walvis Bay.  A magnificent sight, especially if you’re lucky enough to see them take flight simultaneously.
  • Our journey to the Namib will present us with some stunning scenery, especially when we make our way though some stunning mountainous areas.
  • We’ll pass through the Tropic of Capricorn and arrive in time to see the sunset over those magical dunes.

Day 9: Sessriem area to Sossusvlei and back (approx 120 kms/2 hours)

  • The experience of seeing the sunrise over the dunes and its miraculous effect on the shifting desert sands will make the early morning start more than worthwhile.
  • It’s essential to climb Dune 45: at 120 meters high it has spectacular views and it’s the most famous dune in the world.
  • We’ll continue into the heart of the Namib for magnificent views of the awe inspiring dunes, ancient mineral pans, camel thorn trees and much, much more.
  • On our way we have the opportunity to spot some wildlife, like the oryx, ostrich and springbock.
  • In the afternoon we’ll have time to relax and swim before heading out to the last canyon on our trip, the Sessriem Canyon.
  • At Sessriem Canyon, we’ll be watching the sunset over the second biggest canyon in Namibia, its views are awesome, and it’s a real photographic opportunity.

Day 10: Sessriem to Windhoek (approx 450 kms/5 hours)

  • Our return to Windhoek will be via a different route and it’ll take in several magnificent mountain passes.
  • Our guide will drop you at your requested destination in Windhoek. Please note that dinner and accommodation is at your own expense.
