Day 1: Windhoek to Mariental area (approx 280 kms/4 hours)

  • From Windhoek you drive to the South, this is the home of the Nama people, one of the San speaking tribes of Namibia and their unique language includes 4 different clicking sounds.
  • Your journey will take you along the very edge of the Kalahari Desert.
  • You will be staying overnight in the area of Mariental; a great place to hang out to familiarise with the sound and smell of Africa.

Day 2: Mariental area to the Fish River Canyon (approx 360 kms/6 hours)

  • The drive from the Kalahari Desert to the Namib Desert is most scenic, it has gorgeous mountain and desert views, a real feast for the eyes.
  • You’ll have a chance to spot game, like the mountain zebra, springbok, oryx, and many other wildlife species.
  • Finally you will arrive at the majestic and impressive Fish River Canyon, the world’s second largest canyon, and marvel at the extraordinary views and endless possibilities of time and nature.

Day 3: Fish River Canyon to Aus area (approx 300 kms/4 hours)

  • From Fish River Canyon you will continue on through the Namib Desert to the area of Aus.
  • This area is famous for its amazing scenery and its wild horses.

Day 4: Aus area - Lüderitz - Aus area (approx 240 kms / 3 hrs)

  • A day of historic exploration in Lüderitz.
  • In the afternoon you will drive to Diaz where you’ll get to see Lüderitz from a different but equally interesting vantage point.
  • After visiting the mining ghost town of Kolmanskop, where the first diamond in Namibia was discovered, you’ll drive to the area populated with stunning wild horses.

Day 5: Aus area to Sessriem, Namib Naukluft Park (approx 334 kms/5 hours)

  • After driving through the desert with its volcanic and eroded rock formations, you will make our way to the red dunes in the Sossusvlei area.

Day 6: Sessriem area to Sossusvlei and back (approx 150 kms/3 hours)

  • This morning, you will make your way into the dune area of Sossusvlei.
  • Some of the dunes have measured about 395 meters high!
  • Your drive will continue into the heart of the Namib for magnificent views of the awe inspiring dunes, ancient mineral pans, camel thorn trees and much more.
  • If you are lucky, you’ll have a chance to spot all sorts of wildlife, like the oryx, ostrich and springbok.
  • In the afternoon you’ll have time to relax and swim.

Day 7: Sesriem to Swakopmund (approx 390 kms/4,5 hours)

  • Travelling via a scenic and mountainous route along the skeleton coast, you might be able to spot more wildlife before reaching the biggest coastal town of Namibia, Swakopmund.
  • You’ll pass the Tropic of Capricorn and you’ll stop to see thousands of graceful flamingos at Walvis Bay: a magnificent sight, especially if you’re lucky enough to see them take flight simultaneously!
  • Swakopmund has a wide range of activities; you can skydive, go quad biking or sand boarding in the dunes, go on a fishing expedition or enjoy a dolphin cruise. If you’re interested in taking part in any activity, just let us know and we’ll arrange the bookings for you. Please note that these activities are at your own expense.

Day 8: Swakopmund

  • A full day in Swakopmund. This day is yours to do with as you please: shopping, adventure sports, adrenalin filled activities or just relaxing with a book and cup of African coffee in town. Please note that activities are at your own expense.
  • You can try out some different local restaurants, which offer a wide variety of delicious freshly prepared fish cuisines.  

Day 9: Swakopmund to Windhoek, via Cape Cross (approx 580 kms/6,5 hours)

  • The day starts with a visit to the largest seal colony of Southern Africa at Cape Cross before travelling back to Windhoek.
  • Feel free to ask us about places of interest in Windhoek.
